Sydney Stern & Foster Hirsch in Conversation at National Arts Club

Looking at the public and private lives of brothers and screenwriters Herman and Joe Mankiewicz

About this Event

Herman Mankiewicz wrote the screenplay for Citizen Kane; his brother Joe wrote All About Eve and co-wrote and directed Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor. That’s just for starters.

Offering a perceptive exploration of the Golden Age of Cinema, as seen through the eyes of two extraordinary siblings, the double biography The Brothers Mankiewicz: Hope, Heartbreak, and Hollywood Classics is a vital contribution to Hollywood history. The biographer Sydney Ladensohn Stern explores the public and private lives of these two remarkable men. She shares her thoughts and observations with film historian Foster Hirsch.
